After the wedding, our reception will be held from 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM at Raphael's Restaurant, in Lakeland (an area near the New York State Fairgrounds). The reception will be a fully catered buffet dinner, with BYOM entertainment. Here are answers to some common questions about our reception - Q.
How do I know if I am invited?
Q. How do I know if I am invited? A. If you receive an invitation to our wedding at all in any form, you are invited to the reception - there's no special guest list for the reception. Please, join us!
A. Check our page on finding your way for help in this department.
A. Fun, fun, fun! And lots of good food. We really ran through the full cycle of options and considered everything each had to offer before selecting Raphael's; we've enjoyed their work before, and can expect a great buffet dinner. As a special bonus, Raphael's has agreed to add the groom's favorite entree to the buffet: chicken cordon bleu! Mmmmmmmmmm...
A. We're glad you asked - it's a little something we came up with ourselves to make our reception extra-special. BYOM stands for Bring Your Own Music... by no means does anyone have to participate in order to attend, but for those of you who are interested, it should be a lot of fun. Here's how it works: A live combo-type band has been assembled to entertain us at the reception. They are talented musicians who can provide us with normal entertainment, but the fun just starts there. Guests are encouraged to bring their voice or musical instrument along to present a song or two with the band! Honor the bride and groom with a song! Talent is not required; think of it as karaoke in formalwear. There are a couple of ways to do this. If you have an idea in advance of something you'd like to sing or play, you can contact the groom to pass on music for the band to take a look at in advance; or, if you're thinking about a popular piece, a "standard," if you will, just drop the groom a line with the title to pass on to the band. For instance, if you're thinking about offering a rollicking Sinatra-esque rendition of "My Way", you could pass the music on to the groom to pass to the band to take a look at. Or, since it's a well-known piece, you could just drop the groom a line to tell him the name of the song, and he'll pass that on to the band. You don't have to make advance arrangements with the
band, though... these are talented pro types who catch on fast. Just
bring some music with you (or, if it is really well known, just have
something in mind) to the reception. Don't be shy - it'll be fun!!! |
